Her presentationwill not only be about how to pack and go, but above all, she will show what she gained from her stay. Life in a foreign country was not all rosy at seventeen, but it did bring new friends, hobbies and a different mindset. So no stress – everything will turn out as it should!
17:00 – 17:15 Barbora Mašková: Studying and living in five European countries: Who says you have to have a plan?
The life story of a girl who is obviously not very afraid and wants to pass on her courage to others. Barča is not the type to have a five-year plan. She is the type to say “yes” to opportunities. After high school, she went to study in Denmark, and that began the story of five years spent in a different country every year. Studying, working, Erasmus, Gap year, 3 pilgrimages to Santiago and simply an ordinary life far from home. A sincere lecture about life abroad with no Instagram filter. He shows how a change of environment, stepping out of our comfort zone, and encountering different cultures influence our values, identity, and perspective on our own lives. He reflects on why travel shapes us more strongly than ordinary life experiences and how the knowledge gained from travel can be used after returning home or for further travel.
10:10 – 10:15 Work, study & travel: Section introduction
10:15 – 10:30 Martin Mikuš: Your parents are wrong (and that's okay)
Martin’s dreams weren’t hindered by a lack of money, but by the fear of what his parents and friends would think. A few years ago, he was where you are – sitting at a desk full of ideas, but paralyzed by his surroundings and with zero plan. Then he realized that it wouldn’t happen by itself, and he started working hard. He taught himself to take photos, make videos, and play the guitar, and he hitchhiked through dozens of countries. Today, these skills are what keep him going. He co-founded the Sidequests project, which connects thousands of people through sports and adventure. He’ll show you how to turn off the “external noise”. He’ll tell you how to get rid of the fear of failure and instead of giant visions, just take the next step. You’ll find out why you should surround yourself with people who inspire you. In the end, it doesn’t matter what others think – it’s all about your courage to live your life according to yourself, not according to them.

She also addresses the topic of language, which she fully mastered only after arriving in Canada. Kačka reflects on what it is like to plan one’s own free time for the first time, both after school and on weekends, and to interact with people whose opinions differ from one’s own, yet with whom it is still necessary to get along. She focuses on the courage to persevere, not give up at the first obstacle, and to turn challenging situations into valuable experiences.
